A good reporter when gathering information gets both sides of the story. However in the case where there is no other side, the reporter reports just what information he gets the way it is, leaving the readers, listeners the public to make up their own mind on whose side of the story they want to take; we were thought.
Journalism has however changes since becoming the forth estate of the house.
Still the delight of the public, society, businesses, propagandists and every rich publisher out there affiliated with the click of world industrialist and their interests. It has become the tool in-hand for those who have the chunk of world currency to spear just to have their interests and shady deals shielded away from the public, while they terrorize the poor, weak and those they plunder to their benefit and interests.
We have seen so many of instances where media have been used to distract the world affairs while the piper’s master plunder, Kill and lie to the world through their teeth.
Before the very eyes of the entire world, Britain and America lied to the world and invaded Iraqi. In the process they killed Saddam Hossain and turned a peaceful country, where suicide bombing was only a foreign news to the communities to a country where – people now sacrifice their lives in suicide bombing to make statements. We are still lending our voices to the on going British and America’s sponsored run over of Libyan government by their allies.
Here in south Africa, we are everyday being misled by some biased, sensationalized and interest promoting and damaging journalism. Publications have stubbornly argue themselves out of cases that would have caused the dually, radio stations presenters have gotten into trouble; some have had to attempt denying their wrong doing until proven wrong.
Information bill is one law I being a media person strongly stand against, but being human and imagining myself in the position of every person who has been affected by information gathering and usage, I will am really left confused as to which side to stand.
Government should not just leave the issue to be looked at the second time, but create a free for all public platforms where more views can be expressed by the public.
